NEET Exam 2024: Big decisions
Changes to tie-breaking rules:
Ranking by Computer: From 2024, computers will be used to rank candidates with equal marks in NEET UG. Earlier, this process was done manually.
More importance given to Biology: Now, candidates scoring more marks in Biology will be given preference over candidates scoring more marks in Chemistry or Physics.
Class 12 Marks: If marks in Biology are also the same, then marks obtained in Biology, Chemistry and Physics in Class 12 will be used to decide the rank.
Other important decisions:
Examination for open school students: The Supreme Court has ruled that now students studying in open schools will also be able to take the NEET exam.
NEET not mandatory: Congress has said in its election manifesto that if they come to power, they will not make NEET mandatory for MBBS admission.
Implications of these decisions:
Change in tie-breaking rules: This will be beneficial for candidates who have scored more marks in Biology.
Exam for Open School Students: This is a big relief for those students who are studying from Open School and want to become a doctor.
