केंद्रीय कर्मचारी लंबे समय से सरकार से आठवें वेतन आयोग को लागू करने की मांग कर रहे हैं। नेशनल काउंसिल ऑफ जॉइंट कांस्टीट्यूएंसी के नेता शिव गोपाल मिश्रा ने भी इस मांग का समर्थन किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि कर्मचारी 2.86 फिटमेंट फैक्टर की मांग कर रहे हैं। अगर सरकार इस मांग को स्वीकार करती है, तो कर्मचारियों की सैलरी में 186% तक की बढ़ोतरी हो सकती है। उदाहरण के तौर पर, 18,000 रुपये की सैलरी बढ़कर 51,480 रुपये हो सकती है, जबकि पेंशन भी 9,000 रुपये से बढ़कर 25,000 रुपये हो सकती है।
सातवां वेतन आयोग 2016 में लागू किया गया था, और रिपोर्ट्स के मुताबिक, सरकार हर 10 साल में वेतन आयोग की सिफारिशों को लागू करती है।
