In today’s digital age, internet connectivity has become a basic necessity. However, the high cost of smartphones and internet data hinders access to these resources for the poor and underprivileged sections. To reduce this digital divide, the central and state governments are jointly launching free mobile schemes.
Objective of the Scheme
The main objective of this scheme is to digitally empower the underprivileged sections of the country including the poor, women, students and the disabled by providing them free smartphones. This scheme will provide them easy access to government services, education, healthcare and employment opportunities.
Free Mobile Yojana Eligibility
The eligibility for the scheme varies according to different categories:
1- Women: Women above the age of 18 years who are from BPL (below poverty line) families can apply for the scheme.
2- Students: Students studying in government schools and colleges are also eligible for the scheme.
3- Low-income families: BPL card holders or those whose annual income is less than ₹1 lakh can also apply for this scheme.
